PRECONFERENCE WORKSHOP

June 11th, 2025

Please note the following important details regarding registration for the preconference workshop conducting:

  • All preconference workshops will be conducted on Wednesday, June 11th 2025
  • Delegates register for a single workshop. There will be no hybrid or online options to participate in the workshops.
  • ALL delegates are required to register to attend a preconference workshop. The registration fee is INR 1500. This is a separate fee from the main conference registration cost. This rate applies to students also.
  • Workshops will be full-day, inclusive of pre and post lunch
  • Venue of each preconference workshop will be notified closer to the workshop date.

The following workshops are available:

1. TITLE: “TEACHING AETCOM COMMUNICATION SKILLS” - PRACTICAL APPROACHES FOR MEDICAL EDUCATORS

    Workshop objectives: Participants will learn:

    1) Teaching Learning Methods - Explore effective methods for developing communication skills in students.

    2) Assessment Methods - Practical strategies for evaluating communication skills

    3) Challenges and Solutions - Address common challenges in implementing communication skills and provide actionable solutions

2. TITLE: “BEST PRACTICES FOR ETHICAL AND LEGAL DECISION MAKING WHEN CARING FOR THE TERMINALLY ILL”

    Workshop objectives: Participants will learn:

    1) To use the ethical framework for supporting shared-decision-making when faced with therapies / intervention with ambiguous benefit and high burden and suffering to the person.

    2) To apply the procedures laid down by the judgement of the Supreme Court of India

    3)To activate the ‘Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR)’, withholding or withdrawal of life-support treatments as per the norms of the land

    4)To practice essentials of communication skills relevant to such situations

    5)To facilitate the culture of Advance Medical Directives

3. TITLE: “RESPONSIBLE RESEARCHERS AND REVIEWERS: ETHICS OF GOOD CLINICAL PRACTICE”

    Workshop objectives: Participants will learn

    1) The principles guiding ethics education in Good Clinical Practice

    2) The accreditation process for Ethics Committees

    3) The ethical considerations for vulnerable participants and researchers

    4) The challenges faced in the IEC review process regarding the protection of participants and researchers

4. TITLE: “RELIGION, MORALITY AND ETHICS - TEACHING AND PRACTICING CATHOLIC BIOETHICS IN HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS IN INDIA”

    Workshop objectives: Participants will learn:

    1) The orientation on the principles of Catholic Bioethics in healthcare

    2) The areas of conflict between secular and Catholic Bioethics and the problem of moral relativism

    3) To help participants set up Catholic Hospital Ethics Committees in their own hospitals
